Campaigning for workers across the European Union

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions, in association with the European Trade Union Confederation, welcomes the enlargement of the European Union, and in particular welcomes workers from the new states.

European Leaders attend May Day launch

In order to protect the rights of workers from the Accession States, Congress has prepared a multilingual Union Card which summarises those rights and offers the support and advice of the Union. On May Day 2004, an Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and the leaders of Trade Union Congresses from Ireland and all ten of the new Accession States join David Begg, General Secretary of Congress and Maria Helena Andre,  Deputy General Secretary of ETUC, to launch the new European Card     more>>
